Grooving

#103

Grooving is done in a part for inserting other material or fittings. Grooving with   a distance of 0 mm from the edge is called a “quarter”.

The grooves are open and closed. An open groove is a groove made after edging the part. The groove is made right through. A closed groove is made so that the edge of the groove is covered by an edge.

Open grooves are made with a saw. If the width of the groove is greater than the diameter of the cutter, then the grooves can be made with a cutter.

Closed grooves are usually made with a milling cutter, if the diameter of the cutter allows it. Quarters are always made with a milling cutter.

If the closed groove is narrow (made with a saw), then, at the request of the Company, the system adjusts the entry and exit of the saw so that it does not go beyond the specified coordinates.

If the groove leaves insufficient part body, the system adjusts the groove depth to the value set in the Company parameters.

In the Company parameters you can also set the minimum offset from the edge of the part for a closed groove.

Grooves are made on 6 sides of the part. The end grooves are unloaded onto CNC machines as milling with a side cutter.

The groove always automatically snaps to the closest side. Even if the binding was incorrect during import, the problem will be fixed immediately.

Closed slots are unloaded with notches on the CNC. This guarantees high-quality execution of the operation. During export, the required cutter diameters are taken into account and selected.

When exporting quarters, a margin is always added to ensure quality milling. The cutter in real life is always slightly smaller than the specified diameter. The system removes this error.

Creating a groove in the iFurn.Pro program interface:

Manually entering a groove will allow you to select a tool (saw), groove width, sides, groove depth, offsets from   edges.

Grooves can be entered using grooving templates. You can use ready-made templates or create your own.

Regardless of the creation method, grooves are uploaded to machines as CNC operations.
